Kremerata Baltica
Gidon Kremer, violin
Martha Argerich, piano
Friday, January 27, 8 p.m.
Famed violinist Gidon Kremer celebrates his 65th birthday this year, an occasion that he's decided to celebrate in music at the Salle Pleyel. His gift? A series of adaptations of Bach's works, as well as Shostakovich's sparkling Concerto No.1. With him will be pianist Martha Argerich, his long-term partner with whom he forms one of the most explosive piano-violin duos in history; trumpet player Sergei Nakariakov; and the musicians of his ensemble, the Kremerata Baltica, an incubator of young talent from the three Baltic nations. Happy birthday, Gidon Kremer! Keep on wowing us! (photo : © Sasha Gusov - ECM records)

New York Philharmonic
Monday 6 and Tuesday 7 February, 8 p.m.
The New York Philharmonic belongs to the "big five", a restricted circle of America's best orchestras. Founded in 1842, it has worked with a number of the world's greatest conductors. Two years ago, Alan Gilbert succeeded to Lorin Maazel at the head of the orchestra. For the two concerts at the Salle Pleyel, the orchestra and conductor will enlist the talents of two top-class soloists: Frank Peter Zimmermann and Lang Lang. The "New York Phil", as Americans call it, has two exceptional evenings in wait for you..(photo: © Olivier Roller)
